Resistant Materials

Resistant materials offers a number of options for pupils to engage with the subject outside of ordinary lessons. These are as follows:

  • GCSE catch-up and booster sessions – at the end of the school day.
    • These sessions are aimed both at pupils who require additional support to achieve their aims in the subject and also at those whose personal interest takes them above and beyond the usual level of work at GCSE standard.
  • Lower school (KS3) catch-up and booster sessions – lunchtime or breaktime.
    • Additional workshop time is offered for pupils to extend the standard or complexity of their project work and to explore personal interest in the subject.

In addition to the above, it is the intention of the department to offer several local trips to pupils enabling them to learn more about relevance of the subject in the local community and with local companies.
